We are moving our meeting location

As of November 5th, the guild will now be meeting at the Fraternal Hall in Hanford.  The address is 1050 N. 10th St., near the A&W.  Our times have not changed we still have social time from 6-6:30.  This gives you time to sign up for workshops, purchase little quilt drawing tickets, turn in your block of the month blocks and pick up a charity quilt top kit to either piece and quilt, piece and turn in or just to machine quilt and bind.

Our November 5th program will be by Claudia Dallas Gomez.  Her program will be an interactive multimedia program that will recharge your battery through music and motion.  There will music and fabric giveaways this night so be sure to be there or miss out on this fun presentation.  On Saturday November 7th Claudia will teach her “French Door” quilt which you can make either as a sample or a full quilt.  If you decide to make just the sample you’ll only need 2 fat quarter and scraps of material in various colors.  Claudia will have a workshop on her French Door Quilt.  If you signed up and haven’t paid yet make sure you come prepared to pay.  You can contact Juanita Cairns to see if there are still openings to the workshop.

Here's a link to her website.  You can see the French Door  quilt near the bottom under modern quilts.  http://www.devotedtocolor.com/about-me.html

We will have a report on our wonderful boutique as well.

Holy Moly - I've updated the guilds blog FINALLY

I know I know, it's about time!

Here's our president's message:

Hello Again Everyone,
It looks like we are off to a good start this year. It was great to see everyone at the last meeting. I loved the power point presentation. It looks like Juanita has some great programs lined up for us this year. I don’t know about all of you, but I made sure I signed up. Saturday’s sew day at the mall was fun. There was a fairly large group of us and a number of people were working on the witches’ hats. I’m glad we have people who are creative enough to come up with ideas for those hats. I’ll leave it to them. There were also pumpkins, pillows, bowl co-zies, table runners, and crayon bags being made to name a few items. It looks like we will have quite a few items for our boutique. Keep those sewing machines humming along, there is still time to get bou-tique items made. Just a reminder, our next meeting is still at the church, but our November meeting will be in our new location at the Fraternal Hall.

Updated blog finally

Sorry it took so long to update.  Been a little busy at work and then when I get home I just want to sew.  :)  I have a 3 days weekend so I don't have an excuse this month.

Our President Kristin was unable to be at the meeting in May so Charlotte the VP took control and also wrote the president's message.  here it is.

The May meeting was very busy. So many members stepped up to take offices or chair a position that we are ready to start working on the 2015/2016 year. Thank you to each one of you for helping make the guild a success. Mary Jane Loya encouraged members to work on items for the October Boutique. This is our main fundraiser for the year. Work on those bags, placemats, baby items, crayon bags, and any item you think will sell. This is a fun event. Great show and tell, did you get your entry for the Kings County Fair completed? Janice Minyard was our guest speaker. The journey through her quilting life was fun. I always thought Janice only did art quilts. Her traditional quilts are amazing and her quilting beautiful. June brings us a national teacher, Sue Garman. We are lucky to get Sue, she will be teaching next year at Asilomar, a class you can take for only $1500. The good news is you can take a class with Sue next month for only $40. Call Barbara Sindlinger and get signed up.
~~Charlotte Rogers

Our boutique is October 10th which is about 135 days away. I know that seems like a long time, but it will be here before you know it. Some of our members at last meeting brought what they have made to show and tell. I strongly recommend we do this every month so others can see what is being made.
See you at the June 4th meeting and until then happy sewing.
Thanks and sew, sew, sew. Mary Jane Loya

March/April Update

Sorry ladies, just too busy at work to keep up with everything on the blog.  But here are some highlights.

Pat Robertson will have a trunk show on Thursday, April 2nd.    She's a local artist with lots of talent and I for one can't wait to see her quilts in person.  Because of the holiday weekend, her workshop was cancelled and hopefully just postponed until a later month this year.

May's guild meeting will be a trunk show from Janice Minyard. No workshop in May because it's the Central Valley Shop Hop weekend.

The next big speaker and workshop will be in June with Sue Garmin of http://www.comequilt.com/ fame.  She's designed a few block of the months for the Quilt Show and just look at her website and blog.  It's fantastic.

July is our Ice Cream social and trunk show by Jeremy Swaim.

August is the installation of new officer but mostly it will be about the revealing of the mystery quilts, and the challenge quilt contest.

Boutique is scheduled for October still.  More details on that later, but start working on some projects if you can.

We are looking for members to take on the positions for the new year which begins in September so start thinking about how you can become an active member of this group.

And don't forget Best of the Valley next month.  (April)

Updated Program and Workshop Page

Although nothing else has been updated.  With the holidays and my full time job, there just wasn't any time to update the guilds blog.

Judy Coates Perez will be our February speaker and workshop.  Check out her website here for her art and what you can look forward to at the workshop.  Hope to see you all tomorrow night for a few games of Bingo (QUILT) and you may win some wonderful prizes.  (Thimble Town Gift Card, Fabric Bundles)

See Deolinda or Barbara at the meeting to sign up for any upcoming workshops.
